FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP

Every year, the FIFA Club World Cup™ sees the winners of each confederation’s premier competition come together with the host nation’s representative to compete for the coveted trophy. Often highly competitive and action-packed, it allows fans of all generations to see an array of global talent.

FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP

The FIFA Club World Cup 2020™️ was one of the first sporting events after the prolonged lockdown to contain the Corona 2019 outbreaks.

Venue Management

The 2020 edition was held in Doha, Qatar. Media Queen TV being locally based, was invited to be part of the technical broadcast team and look after the MRL transmissions.

As well as being a slight departure from our usual work, it was exciting to see how a different department worked and contributed to the Broadcast output.

The 2021 edition was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and returned to a larger team with defined roles.  For this tournament, Media Queen was invited to work alongside the transmission department again to ensure that the World Feeds were being received worldwide.

Working with the production team, we ensured that the running order was on time, the signals were being received worldwide through uplink channels, and most importantly, we watched TV.

Final whistle

The excitement of the 2021 tournament was seeing the fans who had flown around the world to see their teams play.  The pitch side atmosphere was electric, and to be part of the broadcast team to ensure that all the fans back home could watch their teams was incredible.

The FIFA Club World Cup tournaments were a great project for our team at Media Queen to be involved in. If there is a project you would love to talk to about, why not drop us a line here

AJYAL FILM FESTIVAL

The Ajyal Film Festival is a unique annual event hosted by The Doha Film Institute. Aimed at selected Jurors aged 8-25, who have access to the very best in international cinema, inspiring talks, exciting workshops and thought-provoking masterclasses—all in an innovative hybrid format.

The Ajyal Jury Competition is the core component of the festival and presents jurors aged 8-25 with the incredible opportunity to decide Ajyal’s competition winners. The directors of the winning films are granted funding for their next film, so jurors are empowered to support and promote future content that is relevant and meaningful to them.

The week-long festival is broadcast live across the company’s social media channels, and I had the chance to work behind the scenes to help the production team put together the broadcast programmes.

Fixing the Career Gap

Working on the Ajyal Film Festival was not only a departure from my roots of factual TV into live events, but it allowed me to meet so many great people.  The festival was also my first job back in the industry after taking a career break.

A few of the highlights of working on this film festival included meeting a parrot who could speak several languages and experiencing firsthand the jurors’ reactions when meeting some of the top movie stars up close.

The unique format of the Ajyal Film Festival allowed the next generation of filmmakers a behind the scenes peek at what film production is like.  Meeting some of the most experienced creatives allowed the jurors an opportunity to ask some provoking questions.

If you want to find out more about the Ajyal Film Festival, have a look at some of the behind the scenes footage and photos here.

IAAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS DOHA

Working in TV can be pretty amazing sometimes, with opportunities to work across some great projects and genres.  And the IAAF World Championships Doha 2019 was one of the most memorable.

World Championships

This extraordinary showcase takes centre stage in the heart and home of the sport of track and field in a new location across the globe every two years. The Bi-Annual World Champions are an unmissable global experience. The best track and field athletes worldwide will come together to celebrate diversity, human potential, and athletic achievement.

Local Qatar Fixer

For the tournament, we were employed as Local Production Consultants.  Using our local knowledge and contacts, we provided resourceful production support.

The team were tasked with finding and negotiating some of the best deals in facilities and catering. Alongside working closely with local companies to find some of the best local production staff.

Filming in Qatar can sometimes be challenging, so it’s great to have a team of local fixers on your side.

Event Time

During the event, we worked alongside the Head of Broadcast Operations to ensure that everything in the production hub ran smoothly.  From daily meetings to ensuring there were enough lamps for commenters, we provided local production support with a smile.
